The document prepared for the territory of the City of Prague is the result of cooperation between the City of Prague (represented by the Department of Environmental Protection of the MHMP) and the Czech University of Agriculture in Prague within the framework of a horizontal cooperation agreement. Water Management Development and Construction cooperated with ČZU to complete the work.

The plan for drought provides in the Basic (analytical) part a summary of data on hydrological conditions and water use in the territory of the capital city of Prague, in the Operational part it proposes measures for water shortages in water sources, which for Prague are the source of Káraný, Želivka and the Vltava river, consisting mainly in limiting the use (see section 87k of the Water Act), or regular distribution of withdrawals.

The most essential objective of the Drought Plan is to propose measures to ensure sufficient water to cover basic societal needs, minimise the negative environmental impacts of water management during drought, and minimise the effects of drought and water scarcity on economic activity. The goal is to temporarily reduce pressure on water sources, respond to changes in time and identify an impending problem. The Drought Plan will be an essential working document for the activities of the Prague Commission on Drought Management and Water Scarcity.
