We contribute to the quality of life in this country by providing well-thought-out and sustainable water management solutions.

1896

The Commission for the Canalization of the Vltava and Labe Rivers in Bohemia was established in 1896 by a decree of the Ministry of the Interior as the first water management authority to systematically address the issue of navigating Czech rivers using the canalization method. The Canalization Commission was headed by the governor of the Kingdom of Bohemia.

1912

The headquarters of the Commission for the Canalization of the Vltava and Labe Rivers in Bohemia was located in the renovated building of the former Karpeles Mill, designed by architect Jiří Justich. All successor companies are still based at this location, Nábřežní Street 90/4.

1931

A state fund was established for the navigation of rivers, the construction of ports, the construction of valley dams, and the utilization of water power, on the basis of which the Commission for the Canalization of the Vltava and Labe Rivers in Bohemia was abolished. However, the Commission for the Canalization of the Vltava and Labe Rivers in Bohemia did not completely disappear. Its office remained in operation and was affiliated with the Provincial Office in Prague as its 50th department.

1952

Establishment of the Water Management Development Center as a technical development body in water management. Its task was to complete the State Water Management Plan, prepare major water management investments, explore the possibilities of using water energy, professionally assess large waterworks projects, and supervise their implementation.

1958

The organization was renamed the Directorate for the Construction, Development, and Management of Waterworks with the task of ensuring water management energy construction in its entirety, in addition to its existing tasks.

1960

With its new name, the Directorate for Water Management Development has taken on a newly defined role in the development of water management and as a direct investor in significant and technically complex water management structures. Its new activities include technical and safety supervision of water management structures.

1969

Following the creation of the Watercourses Prague department and the newly established Flood Control Companies division, a new engineering company called Water Management Development and Construction was created, which is the name our company still bears today.

1976

Water management development activities are spun off into the Water Management Research Institute. VRV Praha continues its activities as a direct investor in major construction projects and provides comprehensive engineering services for other investors. It is also the only organization authorized to perform technical and safety supervision.

1992

Establishment of the joint-stock company Vodohospodářský rozvoj a výstavba (Water Management Development and Construction). The company becomes an independent engineering and consulting company providing services to state and private entities, particularly in the fields of water management and the environment.
