TAČR - Advanced data processing of aerial laser scanning for water flow schematization for mathematical modeling

The aim of the project was to develop software that, using a combination of data from aerial laser scanning and quantitative monitoring of water flows, can generate geometric data below the surface of the water, including bank edges and bathymetry. The result is a tool that can be used in the commercial sphere, design and for preparing data for mathematical models and GIS analysis.

The aim of the project was to develop innovative software (SW) for preparing geometric data entering mathematical (hydraulic) models. SW combined aerial laser scanning (LLS) data with information from quantitative monitoring of watercourses. Based on the water flow information at the time of data acquisition, the LLS software generated the necessary geometric data below the water surface, which are not available from LLS. SW automatically generated the necessary bank edges of watercourses, including appropriate bathymetry. The result of two years of research was sophisticated SW, which has become a widely applicable tool for commercial sphere, project activity, data preparation for mathematical models and advanced GIS analysis.
