Our company in 2022 processed the so-called. “Vodníaudit” (hereinafter referred to as VA) for ŠKODA AUTO a.s., a branch plant in Kvasiny Ophardnova nad Kněžnou (production of about 1000 cars per day, around 8 thousand employees). VA is a tool for the implementation and fulfilment of the requirements of the ISO 46001 standard, which deals with efficient water management systems. In essence, it is a comprehensive analysis of the water management of a given enterprise and the resulting proposals leading to better water management, whether in terms of quantity/quality from a professional point of view or a balanced ratio between economic and environmental benefitsfrom the point of view of sustainability. The proposed measures seek to minimise the identified risks of impact on production in terms of water resources, technologies used, infrastructure and monitored data, waste and wastewater disposal. VA processing is determined by the certified Methodology for evaluation of water use at the level of enterprises, published on the website of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. VA processing favors the enterprise when applying for a subsidy for a new technology.
The main parameter of VA is water consumption in excess, which reflects the technological level and the rate of internal water recycling. Škoda belongs to one of the most economical enterprises withconsumption of about 1.2 m3 per 1 vehicle produced. Thus, the water audit is more focused onsecurity of water resources. A specific problem with yeasts is the higher risk of impossibility of extracting surface water from Bila during dry periods. The surface source is therefore replenished with borehole water, but the use of groundwater for industrial purposes may be limited in the future, which could lead to a reduction or even temporary suspension of production. The main measurestherefore consists in the use of treated wastewater as a water source. In addition to the natural biological wastewater treatment plant, it is proposed to use the waters of the Zámestské VSolnici treatment plant, which is located nearby. The main advantage is the uniformity and durabilitysource, which practically can not dry out. Purified wastewater will be treatedstepwise (flotation, filtration, reverse osmosis). Water recycling will thus increase from the current 40% to a predicted 65% theoretical maximum below 80%. The remaining unrecycled amounts consist of drinking water for employees, the factory kitchen and also the expected share of wastewater from the Solnice Water Works, which according to the current methodology cannot be included in the recycling rate.
